Another Miracle of AI: Eye Surgery by robot

First time ever in the history of Medical Science, robots were employed to conduct an eye surgery.

The trial, that was revealed in the "Nature medical specialty Engineering" magazine, happened at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital and was supported by the National Institute for Health Research Oxford biomedical research Centre.

The surgery highlighted immense robotic potential in drugs and delicate operations and it is considered to be a boon for Artificial Intelligence.

The surgery was successful

Of the twelve patients concernedwere operated on manually by surgeons, whereas the opposite 6 were operated on with the assistance of surgeons once they gave permission to Preceyes.

The operation, that concerned removing a membrane from the rear of the attention, was conducted with the help of surgical devices designed by Dutch medical AI firm Preceyes.

The doctors were mighty affected

In 3 patients, the second part of the surgery conjointly concerned the robot inserting a fine needle below their tissue layer to dissolve blood.

Even though the median time for the robot-assisted surgery was longer (4 minutes and fifty-five seconds) than the standard methodology (eighty seconds), with the previous, surgeons were "able to perform the procedure with equal or higher efficaciousness."

Robotic eye surgery will treat styles of vision defect in future
Robert MacLaren, prof of medicine, said, "Our next step is to use the robotic surgical device for precise and minimally traumatic delivery of a sequence medical aid to the tissue layerwhich can be another first-in-man action and is ready to start in early 2019."
